Position Summary

A leading Chicago-based law practice is seeking an experienced Commercial Real Estate Paralegal to support attorneys throughout all phases of commercial and residential real estate transactions. This role involves managing due diligence, drafting and reviewing transaction documents, coordinating closings, and ensuring accuracy across multiple matters.

The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced transactional environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and manage real estate transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements, deeds, leases, estoppels, SNDAs, and closing binders

  • Coordinate due diligence for commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and financings

  • Review title commitments, surveys, exception documents, and UCC searches; prepare title and survey objection letters

  • Communicate with title companies, lenders, surveyors, clients, and opposing counsel to facilitate timely and successful closings

  • Prepare closing checklists, track contingencies, and manage pre- and post-closing deliverables

  • Support real estate financing transactions, including loan document review, escrow instructions, and disbursement statements

  • Form and maintain business entities (LLCs, LPs, etc.) and obtain EINs and certificates of good standing

  • Assist with additional responsibilities as needed to support the real estate transactional team


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited program

  • Minimum of 6+ years of commercial real estate paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department

  • Strong knowledge of title and survey review, real estate closing procedures, and commercial loan documentation

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines and complex matters

  • Experience supporting multi-property portfolios or development projects

  • Familiarity with Chicago and Cook County recording and zoning procedures

  • Notary Public certification preferred
