Construction Law Associate

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Salary: $215,000 – $245,000

A respected Chicago law firm is seeking a Construction Law Associate with 4+ years of experience to join its growing Construction Law practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in construction litigation who is looking to deepen their expertise and grow within a collaborative, high-performing team.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent legal writer with experience handling matters involving design defects, construction defects, project delays, mechanic’s liens, and payment disputes within the construction industry. While the primary focus of this role is construction litigation, candidates with construction transactional experience—or an interest in developing transactional skills—are encouraged to apply.

The practice represents general contractors, owners, and developers in drafting and negotiating construction agreements, resolving pre-claim disputes, and litigating complex claims in both state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings across the United States.

This is a highly collaborative team where associates work closely with experienced partners on strategy, case management, and dispute resolution. Attorneys in this group receive strong mentorship, hands-on experience, and exposure to complex matters from the outset.

The firm also places a strong emphasis on business development and professional growth. Associates are encouraged to build their professional networks and will receive ongoing support and mentoring from senior attorneys as they develop their practice.

Salary: Up to $245,000 depending on experience.
