Construction Law Partner
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Base Salary Range: $250,000-$350,000, with an additional compensation formula based on portable business
Scout Partners is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Construction Law Partner to join the growing construction practice of a prominent Chicago law firm.
The successful candidate will have extensive construction litigation experience and the ability to manage sophisticated matters from inception through resolution. This role is well suited to a junior-level partner ready for greater responsibility, although more senior construction attorneys are also encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Lead construction claims and disputes involving project delays and scheduling, construction and design defects, mechanic’s liens, and payment issues.
- Manage litigation and arbitration matters from inception through conclusion.
- Develop case strategy and provide clear, practical advice to clients and senior business leaders.
- Supervise and collaborate with associates, junior partners, and other members of the litigation team.
- Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the construction practice.
- Participate in business development with the support and mentorship of the firm’s partners.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of litigation experience.
- At least seven years of substantial construction litigation experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex matters independently.
- Strong organizational, judgment, communication, and executive-functioning skills.
- Ability to explain legal issues and strategy confidently to clients and senior leaders.
- A collaborative and team-oriented approach.
- Experience drafting or negotiating construction, design, or related agreements is a plus.
- Portable business is welcome but not required.

Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary range is $250,000-$350,000, with an additional compensation formula based on portable business.
