Location: Chicago Loop (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Salary Range: $100,000–$115,000


Overview

Our client, a full-service law firm located in downtown Chicago, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support core accounting operations and financial reporting. This role partners closely with the Director of Finance and the Accounting team to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely financial insight within a professional services environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts

  • Manage the monthly close process and prepare financial statements and management reports

  • Perform financial analysis, modeling, and trend reporting to support strategic planning

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual financial and compensation surveys

  • Document, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and oversee Client Trust (IOLTA) Accounts

  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and required regulatory filings, including Illinois and Chicago Use Tax

  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset schedules

  • Support all accounting functions and complete ad hoc projects as needed

  • Serve as backup to payroll coordination when required


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred

  • 3–5 years of accounting experience required; law firm or professional services experience a plus

  • Experience with Elite Enterprise/3E preferred

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
