Corporate and Tax Partner
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Salary Range: $350,000-$400,000
Scout Partners is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Corporate and Tax Partner to join the transactional practice of a sophisticated Chicago law firm.
The position is designed for a corporate attorney with significant federal tax structuring experience or a tax attorney who also possesses substantial corporate transactional experience. The selected attorney will operate at the intersection of corporate and tax law, advising clients on complex federal income tax matters while actively participating in transactions.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on federal tax planning and structuring.
- Counsel clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions, capital raises, financings, investment funds, fund formations, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Structure limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and other business entities.
- Draft and negotiate corporate transaction documents.
- Serve as the lead tax advisor on sophisticated transactions.
- Collaborate with attorneys in the firm’s corporate, finance, and specialty practices.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Contribute to business development and mentor associates and junior partners.
Qualifications
- Eight or more years of relevant law firm or comparable transactional experience.
- Significant federal tax structuring experience involving M&A transactions, investment funds, joint ventures, and entity formation.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a corporate transactional attorney rather than exclusively as a tax specialist.
- Strong technical skills, business judgment, and project-management abilities.
- Ability to manage complex matters efficiently and provide practical, business-focused advice.
- Admission to and good standing with the Illinois bar.
- Portable business is welcome but not required.

Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary range is $350,000-$400,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and portable business.
